Allen Jorgenson teaches systematic theology. Dr. Jorgenson currently serves as Assistant Dean and Associate Professor of Systematic Theology, and has been on the faculty since 2005. Allen is passionate about the significance of theological education for the formation of both clergy and laity. He remains convinced that theological thought engenders a sense of wonder and awe which informs the way we live in the world. Dr. Jorgenson is especially interested in the doctrinal treatment of Word and Sacrament. This grows, in part, out of his 14 years of experience as a parish pastor and his conviction that the worship life of the people of God serves as the primordial font for theological reflection. His recent research has focussed on the significance of Luther's sacramental theology for the public life of the church. Allen is also particularly interested in the paradigm shift evidenced in early modernity and the varying attempts to respond to its legacy in contemporary theology. Dr. Jorgenson is the author of The Appeal to Experience in the Christologies of Friedrich Schleiermacher and Karl Rahner (Peter Lang, 2007) and has most recently contributed a chapter entitled "Contours of the Common Priesthood" to The Global Luther (Fortress Press, 2009).
