Biography
I was born and raised in Brantford and attended Pauline Johnson Collegiate where I participated in a co-op program and attained my first office job at Gates Rubber Canada. Shortly after, I married my best friend and partner, Jim, and became an at-home mom for several years as we have four awesome children: Jeanette, Melinda, Michael and Theresa. We started a new cartage business and became self employed for several years until the recession. With the growth in family, we soon outgrew our home in Brantford and moved out in the country just east of Waterford. Our family has now expanded to include three wonderful sons-in-law and three terrific granddaughters; Olivia, who is now 6; Isabel (who was born June 11, 2012), and Keeley who is 14, and a soon-to-be grandchild in June 2013. We have a passion for antique vehicles and, therefore, we do a lot of cruising and attend many a car show. We have a 1940 Buick, 1953 2-1/2 ton stake truck, a 1970 Buick Skylark and my son and hubby created a street-rod using a 1979 chassis and a 1949 cab which was ready in time to be premiered in our daughter's wedding back in April (2012).
My previous employer closed the business due to the current recession and so I decided to go back to school. I ended up graduating with Presidential Honours in the Executive Administration diploma program, and succeeded getting my ideal job in my chosen profession at Wilfrid Laurier University Brantford campus as an Academic Program Assistant to Criminology, Human Rights & Human Diversity, and Law & Society. I am proud that I made the decision to go back to school. I have learned one lesson about life, it is never too late to go back to school and achieve the things that matter the most to us.
When I joined the staff and faculty at Laurier Brantford in 2010, I hadn't anticipated the warm and welcoming environment created by so many working together to promote such a vibrant and caring community. On behalf of past, present, and future students and myself....Thanks Laurier Brantford!
