James Mason received a BMus degree from the Shenandoah Conservatory and a MMus degree from Catholic University, Washington, DC, in oboe performance. Mason studied with Gene Montooth, John de Lancie, and Richard Woodhams. Prof. Mason has appeared as soloist, chamber musician, and clinician with orchestras across Canada, Europe, North and South America and Japan. He has been principal oboist with the National Arts Centre Orchestra, and the Toronto Symphony and Boston Symphony Orchestras. He participates in summer music festivals, including the Elora Festival, Festival of the Sound in Parry Sound, and the Cambridge Arts & Music Festival in Cambridge, Ontario. Mason is principal oboist with the Canadian Chamber Ensemble and the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony.
