As Dean of Chapel since the Fall of 2009, Debbie Lou coordinates daily worship at Keffer Chapel and designs worship services for WLS throughout the academic term. She has led worship and music on two seminary trips to the Holy Land, and as director of the Kanata Centre for Worship and Global Song creates opportunities for public conversations about worship practice and ecumenical gatherings that partner with musicians and artists in the community. With a specific interest in the opportunity for Canadians to build bridges to other cultures, Debbie Lou teaches a course in global song and directs the WLS global song community choir Inshallah. Debbie Lou teaches the contextual class in worship and is Director of Worship Ministries for the Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada.
As a voice instructor at Laurier for many years, Debbie Lou has both a studio on campus and teaches the vocal techniques course for non-voice majors. She brings professional musical theatre and recital experience to her teaching, as well as years of private vocal work with students of all ages.
