Bauman is both an accomplished performer and a dedicated teacher. She
holds a B. Mus. (Performance) from WLU, an M. Mus. (Performance) from Temple
University, where she studied with Alan Abel of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and
a B.Ed. from UWO.
Carol has kept a steady freelance career playing regularly with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony as well as with the Canadian Chamber Ensemble, the Stratford Festival Orchestra and fanfares, the Elora Festival Orchestra, NUMUS, Orchestra London and has performed at the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival and the Canwest Cabaret Festival. Other freelance work includes Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Annapolis Symphony, and the Reading Society Orchestra of Philadelphia. Carol has played in many back-up orchestras for artists including Dizzy Gillespie, Diana Krall, NEXUS, and Natalie MacMaster.
Carol was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada in 1980 and 1981. In 1982 she won the Robert Markon Prize for her first place finish in the instrumental category of the Edward Johnson Music Foundation Scholarship Competition. The same year she was the recipient of the Abner Martin Music Scholarship.

exploring contemporary repertoire for 2 pianos and 2 percussion, and a member
of the New Berlin Ensemble for L’Accordeoniste, with Kimberley Barber.
Carol continues to perform solo and chamber music while maintaining a busy
Carol teaches Musical Skills and Percussion Techniques at WLU and Theory at Conrad Grebel University College. Carol is in increasing demand facilitating workshops and leading drum circles for musicians, educators, businesses, and community groups. She teaches percussion privately, and was a participant in the KWS Adopt-A-Player program helping students create instruments and compose music.
