I am fascinated by the ways in which the physical, biological and socio-cultural systems within our world interact. Thus, I might be described as a very traditional kind of geographer. However, my principle research interest is in the ways in which human activities influence the conservation of plant genetic diversity. Since this research is rooted in the belief that such conservation efforts must inevitably be reconciled with human activities, I might also be described as a reconciliation ecologist. Ultimately, though, the labels are far less important than the goals of the work.
