Biography

I was born and spent the first 18 years of my life in Delhi, Ontario. Upon finishing high school, I set off for Belleville, Ontario where I attended Loyalist College in pursuit of a Print Journalism diploma. Much of my time was spent working on both the campus newspaper, The Pioneer, and student magazine On Your Own. After graduation, I completed a one-month internship with The Brantford Expositor, while pursuing my options for the future.

I ended up going to back to school, this time to Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, where I added an Honours BA in Communication Studies to my diploma. During my four years at Laurier, I had the amazing opportunity to experience many aspects of university life, ranging from Foot Patrol and Student Publications to Residence Life and Public Affairs.

When I graduated in October 2004, I knew I would have a hard time leaving university, and when the opportunity to work at Laurier Brantford came up, I jumped at the chance. I was very excited to start the next phase of my life as the Administrative Assistant in the Dean's Office  in January 2005. The opportunity to be part of a growing campus which is at the forefront of post-secondary educational partnerships was one that could not be turned down. This opportunity became even more incredible when in August I joined the Recruitment office, where I worked until March 2009.

In my role as External Relations Coordinator, I am responsible for the outward appearance of the university, including media relations, our website, publications and various relations with stakeholders. I look forward to being a part of the Laurier Brantford community for years to come, during which time I hope to help the campus continue to grow and develop into a top choice among students, and a leading institution with a reputation for innovation and academic excellence.

Interests

I have a passion for reading, and can never be found without a book on the go. Fiction, non-fiction, literary fiction, you name it and I'll read it. I do very much enjoy new journalism as well, and consider Tom Wolfe a favourite.

I've also been known to enjoy picking up the pen, so any magazines or newspapers you are thinking of starting up, I'd be more than happy to contribute.

As of September 12, 2012 my wife Amy and I are proud parents to twin boys, Benjamin and Elliot.
