Shirley Lichti has an extensive background in sales, marketing, advertising, promotion, and training developed during a fourteen-year career with IBM. She has worked in Canada, the Caribbean and Japan and has experience in both the public and private sectors.
After leaving IBM, Shirley formed Marketing Magic, providing marketing communication consulting, small business promotion, and marketing and customer service training. Her area of expertise is services marketing, or as she likes to put it, “Selling the Invisible.” She has worked with small companies such as the Stratford Festival, to Fortune 500 organizations such as Manulife Financial, Scotiabank and Lexus Canada.
A people person and dedicated educator, Shirley teaches Marketing in the School of Business and Economics (SBE) at Wilfrid Laurier University where she was recognized with the 2002 SBE Outstanding Teacher Award. She was honoured to be included as one of Laurier’s "Most Popular Professors" in the MacLean's Guide to Canadian Universities for four consecutive years. In 2007, Shirley was recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities with The LIFT Award for Teaching Excellence.
Shirley also writes a regular marketing column for The Record and has been an active board member and volunteer in many local organizations, including Communitech, the KW Sexual Assault Support Centre, the Business Success for Women Conference, and the KW Business Women’s Association.
