Each summer, SP200: Study Abroad takes students on an incredible journey and all-inclusive learning experience abroad. This year, SP200 was hosted by Universidad Veritas in San José, Costa Rica, where WLU students immersed themselves in the Spanish language and Costa Rican culture.  Under the direction of the Supervising Professor, Dr. John W. Schwieter, and the Study Abroad Assistant, Lic. Rebecca Castro, this three-week, intensive language and culture course complemented in-class instruction with many out-of-class activities abroad.

In addition to the 0.5-credit language course with Dr. Schwieter and many hours of included cultural and conversation activities, SP200 students visited nearly a dozen towns including national eco-diverse parks, wildlife refuges, volcanoes, craters, hot springs, waterfalls, beaches, coffee plantations and factories, natural rainforests, and jungles.

The all-inclusive program package provides students with: international airfare; tuition for SP200; textbook; Universidad Veritas registration and administrative fees; all transportation abroad; cultural/conversation activities; homestay including meals, linens, and laundry service with a Costa Rican host family; two weekend trips; and three day trips.

The success of this initiative has once again surpassed everyone’s expectations. To see more about this great experience, please visit http://www.wlu.ca/page.php?grp_id=2267&p=14843.
