Welcome to the Faculty of Social Work

The Faculty of Social Work (FSW) at Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU) offers social work programs at the Master’s and Doctoral levels. Since its inception in 1966, the FSW has developed a national and international reputation for excellence in teaching, research, and practicum instruction.

The MSW program has three fields of study: Individuals, Families, and Groups; Community, Policy, Planning, and Organizations; and Aboriginal Studies. The PhD program provides students with opportunities for advanced scholarship and professional growth in two fields of study: Studies in Social Work Practice, and Critical Social Policy and Organizational Studies. more

Please note that evening electives are available only to part-time students until May 24th. On May 24th evening electives will be available to all eligible students.

Anne Westhues, Faculty of Social Work Dr. Westhues’ research interests include evaluation of policy and practice, social and strategic planning and evidence-based practice. She is currently working on an evaluation of a crisis respite program and development of a stigma reduction training program for mental health professionals.
