Lives of Leadership and Purpose Speaker Series: Debi Goodwin, author of Citizens of Nowhere
Nov 16/10
Time: 11:30 - 12:50
Location: Odeon Building, Room 107. 50 Market Street
Cost: Free. Open to the public.
Debi Goodwin, documentary producer and former CBC journalist, will speak
about her new book Citizens of Nowhere (http://www.randomhouse.ca/catalog/display.pperl?isbn=9780385667227). The book
recounts the story of eleven young people from refugee camps in Kenya
who are sponsored to study at Canadian universities by students working
through the World University Service of Canada (WUSC). In Debi's writing
we witness the challenges these individuals face during their first
year in their new home. Further, in Debi's effort to illustrate the
human side of global migration, we see one example of the kind of life
of purpose that Laurier seeks to inspire.
