We are sorry to report that due to unavoidable circumstances, the visit and lectures by Patrick Hayford, former Director of the United Nations Office of the Special Advisor on Africa, on Wednesday 24th October at Laurier (and Friday 26th October at BSIA) have both been cancelled as Mr. Hayford is unable to travel. We hope to arrange another visit on a future date.

Biography
Patrick Hayford recently retired from the post of Director of the United Nations Office of the Special Advisor on Africa, where he served from 2006-2012. He also served as Director for African Affairs at the Executive Office of the Secretary-General (1999-2005); he was a member of the Commonwealth Observer Mission for South Africa’s Second Multiparty Elections (1999); and was Ambassador of Ghana to South Africa, Mauritius, Lesotho, Swaziland, Comoros & Seychelles (1997-1999); Acting High Commissioner (Ambassador) of Ghana to the United Kingdom (1996-1997); and Director, International Organizations and Conferences at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ghana, 1992-1995. Earlier in his career, Patrick also served as Counselor, Permanent Mission of Ghana to the United Nations (1981-1986).
