2012 One Day Course (Re)Design Workshop
Date: Aug 23/12
Time: 8:45 - 15:30
Location: CIGI Campus Room 142
Is your course ready?!
Start now with this hands-on intensive one-day workshop. We'll begin with a focus on learning objectives and then build toward identifying assessments and instructional strategies through a process of backwards design.
Being able to articulate what your course is all about and what you want your students to achieve is critical to student learning and sound instructional design. In this hands-on intensive workshop, you will learn how to craft course objectives according to the SMART principle (smart, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-based). Participants will benefit from sharing and receiving feedback on their objectives before engaging in a process of selecting assignments that align with their objectives and designing teaching and learning activities designed to position your students to succeed. Come prepared to share your assessment and teaching strategies as we collectively work through your instructional and design challenges and opportunities with colleagues from multiple disciplines.
To maximize contact time, participants will be asked to spend one to two hours preparing materials in advance of the session. Workshop materials will be provided both online and in print form.
