Background Since 2011, courses based upon the Inside-Out Prison Exchange model operating in the United States (http://www.insideoutcenter.org) have been offered through Canadian universities in Canadian jails/prisons.  These are semester-long courses taught by university/college professors within a correctional facility, giving campus-based and incarcerated students the opportunity to learn together in an atmosphere of mutual respect.

What will I learn and experience? We have developed a Canadian-based training grounded in the realities of those with lived experience of criminalization and incarceration.  You will learn: how to establish a program at your own university/college and with your own local correctional facilities (or in a community setting);  how a ‘circle of trust’ pedagogy works to enhance egalitarian facilitation and authentic dialogue; the sociopolitical context of Canadian correctional practices; experiential activities designed to bring to life academic concepts, and so much more!!

Please contact us at insideoutcanada@wlu.ca with questions or to request an application. Applications will be available via email starting February 26th.

"The Walls to Bridges Collective are some of the most phenomenal instructors you could possibly have... I have used every bit of information I gained at the Canadian training, and I can honestly say that I would not have been able to do this without taking the course."
