What Was That!? Why is Everybody Writing That Down?
Date: Oct 6/13
Location: Library Learning Lab
Cost: No cost for undergraduate Laurier students
Listening to lectures in English when you’re an English language learner is a brain drain – and you need to know how to listen for the important information. But sometimes it’s not just the words that signify that something’s important – it might be the tone of voice, the pauses, or any number of other elements that you never studied in language classes. Pragmatics is the field of language that examines how language is used in a social situation. In these workshops, students will learn more about how language is used specifically in lecture situations.
Join us for four sessions on Sundays from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Dates: October 6th, October 20th, November 3rd, November 17th.
