Demystifying Concessionary Loans

This paper develops a metric for the wealth gain that accrues to a borrower who accesses a concessionary loan, i.e., one which grants the debtor an interest rate discount.  Such loans denominated in the domestic currency as well as in a foreign currency are broached.  Two different procedures are presented for dealing with the latter type of concessionary loan and these are shown to be equivalent under certain conditions, which are delineated in the paper.
