Deriving Competitive Advantage from Real Exchange Rate Changes
Dr. Jacques A. Schnabel
published: 2008 | Research publication | Publications
This paper argues that although a firm can gain competitive advantage from real exchange rate changes, real exchange rates exhibit reversionary behavior. Thus, any gain in competitive advantage is merely transitory. This argues for the diversification of production facilities across countries to allow the continuous rescheduling of production plans in response to changes in real exchange rates. The was published in the Competitiveness Review Volume 21, Number 3 (2011) pp. 322 - 327.
