Enhance Academic Integrity at Wilfrid Laurier University

Executive Summary
Dr. Jennifer Robertson-Wilson and Dr. Renee MacPhee

published: 2010 | Research publication | Enhance Academic Integrity Study

Background

Given the attention academic integrity has received both at Wilfrid Laurier University and elsewhere (e.g., Christensen-Hughes and McCabe, 2006a, 2006b), this project sought to address the following:

1. What is the current level of knowledge and skill regarding academic misconduct (plagiarism) and use of citations/referencing/paraphrasing among students in our department?

2. Do the selected pedagogical methods used enhance the learning of referencing according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th edition) and plagiarism? Is there a difference in learning among the methods used?
