The leading contemporary challenge for Strategic Human Resource Management is in building creative potential and capacity for innovation. In this chapter we explore the role of the manager and the HR system in building creative potential. We take a Complex Responsive Processes view of SHRM, which helps to describe how new innovations emerge, and consider the implications for research and management practice.
