ABSTRACT: Some would argue that the best firms have always sought to leverage their communities of interest for the instrumental purpose of creating value. In many cases they have done this by balancing stakeholder interests and combining them with a clear vision of what is achievable for customers, employees, investors, and other stakeholders - whatever their corporate officers may have said to the analysts or investors at annual general meetings. However, the evidence is now mounting that what is said to one stakeholder group need no longer be in conflict with what is said to employees, customers, supply chain partners, and local communities.
