Case Description: This case depicts a staffing dilemma faced by Tuscany Kavanaugh, an HR Manager in the school bus transportation industry. In the case, Tuscany faces mounting staffing pressures as she struggles to recruit and maintain an adequate number of drivers in the unpredictable world of student transportation in the winter. The breaking point arises when Tuscany's employment equity recruitment efforts threaten to
interrupt regular service provision at KRP2's largest division--Metro East. Tuscany has to make a decision regarding the accommodation of a Muslim religious holiday--EID. Muslim drivers represent 25% of the 400 drivers in the pool, which will have an adverse effect on service levels, but she also has to consider the impact her choice will have on other drivers. Making matters critical is that their contract with the Montreal School Board is up for renewal.
