Case Description: The case focuses on one of the new "new
breed" of entrepreneurs who have emerged in China since the end of the
cultural revolution in the late 1970's. In 1984, Mr. Yu, who was then
a factory worker in Wuhan, opened a small wholesaling business which,
following some initial setbacks, began to grow and prosper.
