Key Issues:    Reorienting corporate strategies; Adapting corporate culture

Case Description:    Union Financial, one of the company's three lines of business, is responsible for providing retail financing to Union Energy's residential and commercial customers.  Although the division underperformed in 1999, Union Financial management believes that it can boost its business volume and revenue by implementing an e-commerce initiative.  A key component of its e-strategy is an m-commerce credit approval system that Union Financial dealers can use to secure instant credit for customers while on site atthe customers' home or business.  This unique technology-based initiative would offer Union Financial the opportunity to broaden its "old economy" perspective by implementing "new economy" tools to lower costs, strengthen its customer and associate dealer value proposition, enter new markets and generate new revenue streams.
