Biography
Patrick Hayford recently retired from the post of Director of the United Nations Office of the Special Advisor on Africa, where he served from 2006-2012. He also served as Director for African Affairs at the Executive Office of the Secretary-General (1999-2005); he was a member of the Commonwealth Observer Mission for South Africa’s Second Multiparty Elections (1999); and was Ambassador of Ghana to South Africa, Mauritius, Lesotho, Swaziland, Comoros & Seychelles (1997-1999); Acting High Commissioner (Ambassador) of Ghana to the United Kingdom (1996-1997); and Director, International Organizations and Conferences at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ghana, 1992-1995. Earlier in his career, Patrick also served as Counselor, Permanent Mission of Ghana to the United Nations (1981-1986).
