Purpose

To support short-term working groups or conferences held at Laurier. It is expected that some scholars from outside Laurier will be invited to campus to participate in the conference or workshop. In addition, faculty and students at Laurier should be involved if possible.

Who Can Apply?

•     Faculty will be limited to one grant in any fiscal year, and must submit a report to the Office of Research Services following the conference. While preliminary and follow-up work may be extensive, a conference might be expected to meet for a relatively brief period, perhaps two to three days.

•     This grant is not available to faculty on Limited Term appointments.

•     Applicants are strongly encouraged to seek outside funding from other partners such as the SSHRC Connection grant.

Application Requirements

All Conference applications must be accompanied by a letter of support from the applicant's Chairperson and Dean, indicating direct and indirect sources of support, if any, to be provided by the Department, the Faculty and other internal and external sources.

•    Travel costs for presenters (including keynote speakers)

•    Travel costs for Canadian student presenters (whether studying in Canada or abroad)

•    Subsistence costs for presenters (including keynote speakers)

•    Subsistence costs for Canadian student presenters (whether studying in Canada or abroad)

•    Administrative costs

•    Translation/interpretation

•    Teleconferencing/videoconferencing

•     Promotion and dissemination

•     Publication of proceedings

•    Expenses not listed above may be recovered from conference registration fees.
