India is a
nation of immense cultural, religious, linguistic, and ethnic diversity.
Managing this diversity in order to make Indian companies more competitive in
world markets is crucial to the success of India as a nation. The growing
presence of multinational corporations in India, and the rise of India as an
economic power will make that understanding India’s diversity essential to MNC
and will necessitate that MNCs act to develop corporate visions that create
consistency between individual, organizational, and societal values. Indeed,
developing a strong vision is essential to mitigating the problems posed by
diversity and harnessing its opportunities.
