As the international demand for this sector of health workers continues to increase, the global migration of nurses will continue to be of importance to Kerala’s economic, social and cultural development, despite the temporary variations in international demand. Kerala is clearly an important site to explore female migration related to the health care sector, and as such it stands in contrast to India as a whole, which has generally been perceived as a non-sending region when it comes to female migrants.
