Advocis Certified Financial Planner Program
Continuing Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University is pleased to offer the Advocis' CFP® program. This program is designed to help financial planners achieve their goals. Financial planners learn the fundamentals of building a comprehensive financial plan and are recognized as dedicated professionals with the know-how to assist clients while adhering to high ethical standards. The CFP® designation marks financial planners as qualified to practice as professionals.
Laurier will offer the Core Curriculum courses (231, 232, 233 and 234) and the Capstone Course at regularly scheduled intervals. The core curriculum program includes four separate courses as detailed below. Upon successful completion of the core curriculum courses, students can apply to the Financial Planning Standards Council to write the Financial Planning Exam 1 (FPE1). The Capstone Course (course 245) includes one course as detailed below. Upon successful completion of the capstone course, students can apply to the Financial Planning Standards Council to write the Financial Planning Exam 2 (FPE2). Successful completion of course 245 and a 12 month financial planning related work experience qualifies students to write the Financial Planners Standards Council's Financial Planning Exam 2 (FPE2)
