If you are a new student and have never taken a course at Laurier, your first step is to apply for admission by following the instructions below. It is especially important for you to note the Application for Admission Dead-line Dates identified in this calendar. We encourage you to forward all the necessary forms and documentation well in advance of the stated deadlines. Step 1. Complete the Application for Admission and return it with the required non-refundable fee of $30 payable to: If you have been admitted to Laurier as a part-time student, you have 12 months in which to register and complete a course; if you have not done so within this time frame you must reapply with the form Application for Admission and mail it to OUAC. If you have been admitted to Laurier and have completed one or more Laurier courses within the last 18 months, you need only submit an Intent to Register form to register in a course (and a Distance Education form if applicable). If you have been admitted to Laurier, and have completed one or more Laurier courses, but have not completed a course within the last 18 months, you must submit a Request for Re-registration form, as well as an Intent to Register form, (and a Distance Education form if applicable) to the Office of the Registrar in order to register for a course at Laurier. If you are studying at another university and would like to take Laurier courses for credit at your home institution, you will require a Letter of Permission from your home institution and you must apply to the Ontario Universities' Application Centre for admission. If you wish to attend classes without receiving academic credit, you will be identified as an audit student. You must be admitted to the university and must complete the Application for Admission (and pay the application fee). Tuition fees are normally half the regular course fee, with a few exceptions that may be charged the full course fee. Fees are not refundable. (See Course Costs). Indicate the Unclassified Studies program code (UL) as your program selection. On the Intent to Register form, place a checkmark in the column indicating audit status. Audit students do not write final examinations, but may participate in classes to the extent allowed or required by the course professor. Students attending Laurier must have sufficient facility in the use of the English language to understand and profit from instruction given in English. Students whose native tongue is not English must submit, together with their application, evidence acceptable to the university of their proficiency in English. Normally, this evidence is an acceptable score on either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB), or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL). A minimum score of 560 is required in the paper-based TOEFL; a minimum score of 220 is required in the computer-based TOEFL; a mimimum score of 83, with no component below 20, is required in the internet based TOEFL; a minimum score of 6.5 is required in IELTS; a minimum score of 85 is required in the MELAB; a minimum score of Band 70, with no band less than 60, is required in the CAEL.
