Regulations for Combining Honours with Other Programs
Honours students may choose to organize their elective courses to meet the requirements for a major, minor or option in a subject other than the honours discipline(s). Additional courses may have to be taken to fulfill these requirements.
NOTE: Effective September 2007,
there will be no general major designations for honours students
admitted to the university. Honours students following new progression
regulations effective September 2005 may still declare a general major.
Students combining honour(s) programs with other programs must meet the following regulations:
- All requirements for the major, minor or option, must be fulfilled. (Refer to Regulations Governing All General Major Programs and Regulations Governing All Minors.) Curriculum Divisions A, B and C requirements need not be fulfilled unless specified in the student's honours program. Progression in the general major is governed by the regulations that determine progression in general degree programs.
-
The student must achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 5.00 on all courses of the major, or a cumulative GPA of at least 4.5 on all courses of the minor subject. If a major, option or minor requires a higher GPA, that GPA applies.
-
An honours student may receive designation for only one general major and/or option other than the Administration, Children's Education and Development Option, Co-operative Education and Professional Experience Program Options.
-
An honours student may receive designation for only one of the Co-operative Education and Professional Experience Program Options.
