Schlegel Centre for EntrepreneurshipExecutive Director: Steve Farlow, MBA, sfarlow@wlu.ca, ext. 2615 Established in 2002, the Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship operates within the School of Business & Economics and conducts activities to support SBE's academic programs. The centre provides students with experiential learning opportunities; supports the entrepreneurial community; and facilitates the incubation of student business ideas. Key activities for undergraduate students include the Nordia New Venture Competition, which is integrated into the Year 1 BBA curriculum; the Entrepreneurship Mentoring Program for Year 2 SBE students; a speaker series; the LaunchPad $50K Venture Creation Competition; and the Start-A-Business Program in which SBE students, through an academic course, receive professional support and assistance to launch their businesses. Additionally, ACE Laurier offers students the opportunity to run on-campus ventures and Student Connections hires students to deliver computer training services to small and medium-sized businesses. |
