Centre for Community Service-LearningDirector: Megan Conway, PhD, mconway@wlu.ca, ext. 3088 The Centre for Community Service-Learning facilitates integrated and engaged learning opportunities for students both inside the classroom and through practical service in the community. Through targeted placements and projects, students are able to connect their academic course curriculum to real life experiences. Service-learning enables students to develop key skills and knowledge, explore career options, assess personal values, gain a sense of civic responsibility, and develop leadership skills. The Centre works closely with community organizations to link their needs with the skills and interests of students, so that both parties benefit from their partnerships. Courses with potential Service-Learning opportunities will typically be identified in the course calendar. In addition to curricular (course-based) Service-Learning, the Centre facilitates a growing range of co-curricular community-engaged learning opportunities in collaboration with community and campus partner. |
