The Career Development Centre provides assistance to all students and alumni in their career planning and job search. There are three primary services offered by the department: career consulting, career information and employment services.

Career consulting services are provided on an individual basis to involve students in the career decision-making process, in developing effective job search strategies, and in their pursuit of further education opportunities. A career resource area is also available to students seeking information on topics such as educational programs, work/study/travel abroad, careers, graduate admission tests, job search techniques and potential employers. In addition, a comprehensive website has been developed to meet the career-related needs of students and alumni.

The following services are available to assist students and alumni in their search for employment opportunities. A Graduating Student Employment Service is available to all students completing their final year of a degree or diploma program and to alumni who are currently registered as students at Laurier. Through this program, employers interview students during the fall and winter semesters for full-time employment available upon graduation. In addition, graduates may register with the Alumni Employment Service. A Summer and Part-time Employment Service is also offered, and a Career Fair and a Job Fair are held annually.

Throughout the year, the department offers over 600 career-related programs and events including a number related to graduate and professional school options for those pursuing further education after graduation. These programs and events include a Career Development Certificate Program, a Graduate and Professional Education Fair, a Careers In... Series and programming for aboriginal and diverse groups. Workshops on career planning, resume writing, job search and interview skills are also offered for interested students. In addition, e-newsletters containing information related to educational, career and employment opportunities are distributed regularly to students, staff and faculty.
