The Tshepo Institute for the Study of Contemporary AfricaThe Tshepo Institute has a number of objectives such as, foster research parnterships between academics in Canada and their counterparts in sub-Saharan Africa; provide practical assistance to community development organizations on the ground in selected African states; encourage grassroots organizations attempting to deal with issues such as capacity building, HIV/AIDS and good governance; raise awareness of some of the most significant issues confronting contemporary Africa; present a fuller picture of life in contemporary Africa, emphasizing causes for hope as well as areas of concern; facilitate student and faculty exchanges between Laurier Brantford and institutions in Botswana, Kenya, Senegal and South Africa; strengthen the interdisciplinary nature of the Brantford Campus; create opportunities for the development of leadership among Laurier Brantford students. |
