The services offered by this department include Personal (non-academic) Counselling and Performance Coaching Consultation. Refer to the counselling services website for the many exciting related on-line workshops. Professionally trained staff are available throughout the year for confidential, adult-to-adult consultation regarding personal concerns including adjustment and coping issues, interpersonal/relationship issues, identity issues, family of origin issues, and mental health concerns. Individual performance consultation might include issues relating to procrastination, motivation, goal-setting and confidence. Group workshops and informal seminars may be offered to enhance skills in such areas as interpersonal communication, stress management and performance enhancement in the areas of music, sports or academic exams. Initially, an Intake Counsellor will review concerns and issues and provide feedback regarding options. If further counselling is recommended, the Intake Counsellor will match the client to the most appropriate counsellor or services. Consultations and crisis appointments are also available. Pamphlets, handouts and other self-help material relevant to personal development or academic performance are available in the Counselling Office or on the website listed above. |
