Office of Student Diversity
Student Diversity Co-ordinator: Adam Lawrence, ext. 3208
The role of the Office for Student Diversity is to enhance diversity on campus through the development, co-ordination and delivery of programs and projects that will contribute to an open and accepting quality of life for all students. The Office oversees the Women's Centre and the Rainbow Centre, and plans to establish a First Nation's House and Centre for Race, Etnicity and Multicultural Experience.
Gays, Lesbians, or Bisexuals at Laurier (GLOBAL) meet regularly at Laurier. These meetings are intended to provide a supportive, positive, safe environment for LGTTTIQ individuals in the Laurier community.
The WLU Rainbow Centre is dedicated to enhancing the university environment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer individuals in the Laurier Community through awareness promotion, education, advocacy and support. The Rainbow Centre operates on four foundational policies: Respect, Privacy, Confidentiality and No Assumptions. The Rainbow Centre is open to individuals of all sexual orientations and gender identities. GLOBAL is the weekly discussion and social group run by the Rainbow Centre to discuss LGBTQ related issues, events and experiences. These meetings are intended to provide a supportive, positive, safe environment for individuals from the spectrum of sexual and gender diversity within the Laurier community, including Allies.
The Women's Centre is committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment for all women at Laurier. It operates as a resource and referral service and serves all students, staff and faculty. The centre consists of an office and a library/lounge room and is run by women volunteers who function as a collective.
