The YMCA of Kitchener-Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University have partnered to open the Abwunza YMCA Child Care Centre, (named after the late Judith Abwunza, an associate professor in the department of sociology and anthropology), for children of Laurier faculty, staff and students, as well as the K-W community. The child care centre is located in the St. Michael's building and accommodates children from 18 months to five years of age.

Abwunza YMCA Child Care provides a quality environment that is warm, inviting, clean and safe. The staff are qualified professionals, selected to meet the expectations of the Abwunza Centre and are committed to building a supportive network with families to provide children with positive and happy childhood years.
