Critical Analysis of Social Issues

Through the study of classical and contemporary sociological thought, students will develop tools for the critical analysis of social issues. Emphasis will be placed on enhancing students’ critical thinking and writing skills within a sociological context. The course content will include material on locating, understanding, and assessing journal articles, evaluating evidence, identifying assumptions, constructing arguments, and writing a research paper that utilizes appropriate methods of scholarly citation.
