Girls, Women and Popular Culture

A feminist examination of the way media and forms of popular culture, such as magazines, films, pulp fiction and advertising represent women and girls. Ways women have been able to resist and recuperate some of these forms and genres for their own purposes will be examined. Special attention will be paid to constructions of race, gender and ethnicity.
