French Teaching Option

The French Teaching Option is only available to students registered in a Brantford Campus program. It is designed to provide students with a supplemental course of study focusing on the skills and knowledge specific to teaching French. For graduation, students must have a minimum GPA of 6.00 computed on all 4.0 credits in the option. Students are required to complete a minimum 0.5 credit on an exchange, Explore Program (or other letter of permission), in Quebec or in a French speaking country in order to complete the option. Students wishing to complete this requirement outside of Quebec are required to have the placement approved by the Dean of Brantford. Students completing the French Teachable Option are excluded from completing the French minor.

Notes

  1. Students should be aware that some of these courses have prerequisites. Although these prerequisites may be waived by the department administering the course, it is the responsibility of the student to make such arrangements.
  2. The Brantford Campus offers only two general degrees: a BA without a designation, and a BA in Contemporary Studies. No further designation (major, option or minor) is awarded with these degrees.
  3. Students who have graduated from a French secondary school, French Immersion high school, or have completed Grade 12 French AP level 4 should seek academic advising regarding courses with exclusions in the option. Students who have course exclusions will replace the excluded courses with senior level French courses.
  4. Students must have completed FSF 4U or equivalent to enroll in the Option.
