Honours BA Applied Economics with Management Option
The Management Option is available to students
registered in honours Applied Economics programs.
Students normally apply at the end of Year 2. Students must apply by April 29 of the year they intend to enter the
program using the LORIS online program confirmation.
Entry into the
program is competitive and decisions are based on the applicant's
overall GPA as of April 30.
To be eligible, a student must have a minimum GPA of 6.0 in
BU111
and BU121.
A student must also successfully complete
BU205/EC205
or equivalent statistics course prior to admission to the
program.
The Management Option consists of the following 5.0
credits (10 courses: 6 required and 4
electives):

- The Management Option has been completely revised from the
Administration Option and the new program
is effective September 1, 2010. Students
currently registered in
the Administration Option can continue and complete it using the prior
regulations. Course
substitutions may be required; consult a Business Department academic advisor.

- Financial Management I for
BU223
- Fundamentals of Finance must complete BU383
course prerequisites (BU227
and one of: BU205/EC205;
BU255/EC255; EC235,
EC285).
Students who complete BU223
must still complete BU383
if they wish to pursue
other third- and fourth-year Finance courses. Consult a Business
Department academic advisor.
- Applying to the Management Option must normally be done by the
end of
Year 2.
- A GPA of 7.00 in the courses specific to the Management Option
is
required to graduate with a maximum of 2 course repeats. Any and all
courses specific to the
Management Option will be included in the calculation of the GPA.
- At least 4.0 of the 5.0 credits in the option must be completed at
Wilfrid Laurier University.
