North American Studies Program
The program of North American Studies is offered in combination with another Honours BA program. Normally taken over four years, an honours program consists of 20 credits, of which 7.5 are in North American Studies. Students will take a set of required courses that focus on the interactions between Canada, the U.S and Mexico. Students will also complete a primary concentration in the Canadian Studies Stream or the American Studies Stream. Students are also encouraged to acquire Spanish or French language skills, which are invaluable in many professions. A key feature of North American studies is the opportunity to study at partner campuses in the U.S. and Mexico. With an Honours BA in North American Studies, students will have a competitive edge in today’s job market. This knowledge can lead to careers in private business, government and non-government organizations, journalism or law.
The North American Studies program looks forward to your inquiries. For advice, the program administrative assistant can be reached at nforde@wlu.ca.
