Sep 12 - Sep 18 Withdrawing from all courses and graduate program (appropriate paperwork is required) during this time period, there is no tuition charge
18 Final day to drop fall and fall/winter course(s) with no tuition charge but remain registered (students must remain registered in at least one course) (part-time MBA students only)
Sep 19 - Sep 25 Part-time MBA students who drop any course(s) in this timeframe (even if replaced with another course or courses) will be assessed 10% of the tuition fee for the dropped course(s)
25 Final day for late registration and for adding fall term 2011 and fall/winter 2011/12 session courses
25 Final day to withdraw from the program at 10 percent tuition charge
Sep 25 - Nov 7 If you withdraw from a course (or courses) (part-time MBA students) or from your graduate program (all graduate students) during this time period, you are responsible for 55% tuition
30 Final day for submitting final (post-defence) copies of dissertation/thesis/major research paper (as applicable to the graduate program) to Graduate Studies Office to receive full refund of fall term fees and to be eligible to graduate at fall convocation

1 Final day to submit application for fall convocation (late fee and application fee apply); see Tuition and Miscellaneous Fees for Graduate Programs. No forms will be accepted after this date
7 Last day to drop first 6-week course(s) which began September 12 without academic penalty (failure)
8 From this date until the end of first 6-week classes in this term, if you drop a first 6-week fall term course that began September 12, you will receive academic penalty (failure)
10 Thanksgiving, university-observed holiday
24 First six-week course(s) that began September 12 end
25 Second six-week courses begin
28 Fall convocation

7 Final day for submitting final (post-defence) copies of dissertation/thesis/major research paper (as applicable to the graduate program) to Graduate Studies Office to receive partial refund (45 percent) of fall term tuition fee
7 Final day for withdrawing without failure from fall term courses and for possible tuition adjustment (tuition charge assessed at 55 percent)
8 From this date until the end of this term, if you withdraw from your classes or program, you will receive academic penalty (failure) and are responsible for 100 percent tuition
21 Last day to drop second 6-week course(s) which began October 25 without academic penalty (failure)
22 From this date until the end of first 6-week classes in this term, if you drop a first 6-week fall term course that began October 25, you will receive academic penalty (failure)

5 Last day of classes for qualifying year (undergraduate) students
Dec 8 - Dec 21 Final fall term examinations for qualifying year (undergraduate) students (qualifying year students are advised not to make travel commitments during this time)
9 Fall term classes end
12 Make-up Monday class for Thanksgiving
Dec 15 - Dec 21 Examination period for Waterloo MBA students
21 Fall term ends
Dec 24 - Jan 2 University closed; winter term begins Tuesday January 3, 2012
