Reading Seminar on the Boer War

This course
probes recent reappraisals of the Boer War (South African War) of
1899-1902. Issues include the origins of the war and its consequences,
the nature of military operations, the concentration camps, African
involvement, the participation of dominion forces (especially
Canadian), and international reaction to the conflict. Questions
relating to race, gender, identity, image-making and experience during
