An introduction to the field of visual culture studies with an emphasis on the ways in which gender, sexuality, race and power are actively involved in all visual experiences. We will consider the production, circulation and consumption of images in a transnational context. Topics may include art by women and women artists, pornographic images, women in film, feminist comics, documentary photography and advertising.
