Women, Gender and Popular Culture

A feminist examination of the ways media and forms of popular culture, such as magazines, films, pulp fiction and advertising construct diverse gender and sexual identities. The ways individuals have been able to resist and recuperate some of these forms and genres for their own purposes will be examined. Special attention will be paid to race, gender, ethnicity and sexuality.
