Fundamental Statistical Methods for Social Work Research

An introduction to basic descriptive statistics, correlation, least squares regression and statistical inference (tests of hypothesis, confidence intervals, etc.) in a variety of situations using the z, t, F, and y2 distributions. This course through a variety of methods will provide the student with the applied and theoretical statistical background necessary to analyze empirical research in Social Work. A weekly one-hour lab is included along with lectures that will provide training in computer statistical software using SPSS, statistical simulations and WebCT.
