Research Methods in Social Work

This course provides an overview of qualitative and quantitative research methods for diverse populations including techniques used to evaluate social work practice and programs. The emphasis will be on research paradigms, qualitative and quantitative research designs, ethical issues and review procedures, sampling and data collection methods. At the end of this course students will be able to develop a research proposal that includes a literature review, identifies a feasible research question and describes a methodology relevant to the research question in an area of social work that interests them.
