Neoliberalism and its Critics

This course examines neoliberalism as a development strategy. It attempts to shed light on the origins, nature, specifics and reactions to the market-driven reforms that dominated the development agenda of the 1980s and 1990s. Specific country-cases of these reforms and their general implications receive special attention. The case studies are drawn from Africa, Latin America and Asia.
