Waterloo Lutheran Seminary (WLS) is a postsecondary school of the Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, which is a member of the Lutheran World Federation. It reflects the deep historical commitment of Lutherans to provide access to education. Hosted by Lutherans, there is a vibrant ecumenical and multifaith community of learning at WLS comprised of over 27 different faith traditions. WLS is committed to supporting students, faculty, and alumni is fulfilling their public responsibilities for service to God’s world.

Wilfrid Laurier University

Established in 1911, Waterloo Lutheran Seminary (WLS) is the founding institution for both Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Waterloo. WLS has its own Board of Governors and Senate. WLS is federated with Laurier. Administrative, student and other services are integrated within the Laurier system. WLS and Laurier students can cross register for courses in any department relevant to their academic program. Laurier grants degrees on behalf of WLS and all academic programs receive their final approval from the Laurier Senate. WLS students are members of the Students' Union and the Graduate Students' Association.

The Association of Theological Schools (ATS)

The Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS) is a membership organization of more than 270 graduate schools that conduct postbaccalaureate professional and academic degree programs to educate persons for the practice of ministry and for teaching and research in the theological disciplines.

Educational Effectiveness is measured by a variety of quality care standards set by Wilfrid Laurier University’s Centre for Teaching Innovation and Excellence (CTIE), the Ontario Council of Graduate Studies (OCGS), and the Association of Theological Studies (ATS).

The Toronto School of Theology (TST)

Waterloo Lutheran Seminary is an Affiliate Member School of the Toronto School of Theology (TST), the largest ecumenical consortium for theological education in Canada. TST is a federation of 7 member colleges (Emmanuel College, Knox College, Regis College, St. Augustine's Seminary, University of St. Michael's College Faculty of Theology, University of Trinity College Faculty of Divinity and Wycliffe College) offering basic and advanced degrees in theological studies.
